A01 RED LABEL
WONGKRATON seamlessly blends the heritage of denim construction with authentic craftsmanship, paying homage to the pre-War era. Selecting fabrics from Okayama Prefecture, a denim production hub, form the foundation of our commitment to timeless tradition. A skilled artisan channels wisdom into design, cutting, and sewing, using old-fashioned looms and traditional techniques. This results in jeans exuding the classical aura of the American Wild West, embodying vintage authenticity. Setting ourselves apart, WONGKRATON crafts jeans that transcend mere sewing, creating a narrative of timeless style by seamlessly blending authenticity, quality, and an artistry that defines the brand. Our 15oz selvedge denim from Ibara, Okayama Prefecture, further epitomises this commitment, offering a comfortable heaviness and unique texture rooted in Edo period indigo-dyed traditions.
Crafted with meticulous handwork and utilising lockstitch machines, these jeans age gracefully, ensuring longevity and character with beautiful colour fading over time. The essence of A01 RED LABEL lies in the transformative journey of its denim fabric, initially indigo and rigid, gradually fading and developing unique characteristics with wear. This 15oz Selvedge denim, in particular, exhibits distinct vertical lines and shades over areas like knees and thighs, evolving over 5 to 10 years until it attains a vintage charm. Sewing plays a crucial role in supporting the fabric throughout its lifespan, demanding careful craftsmanship to avoid fraying or tearing along the way. WONGKRATON comprehends these nuances, investing time and effort to deliver a taste and style unattainable in mass production.
To make A01 RED LABEL jeans durable, we use different threads for various parts. We use strong gold-brown polyester yarn for areas like buttocks, inner thighs, and belt loops, where the fabric undergoes more stress. In contrast, for stitching details like pockets and button flies, we use faded-denim-colored cotton yarn, specifically yellow, to seamlessly blend in. This tailored approach enhances the overall expression and detailing of our jeans.
The belt loop edges are reinforced with piping to maintain fabric strength and prevent fraying. Stamped rivets, crushed heads, and matte black-sprayed donut buttons symbolise our jeans, evolving with a unique dullness over time. Leather patches on buttons and rivets reduce fabric stress, and the wide belt loop's three-dimensional design enhances colour fading. Hand-finished with an original curved, asymmetric design, the inner surface is reinforced with pocket cloth for durability.
Caring for A01 RED LABEL sanforised denim jeans
PREPARATION -
Turn the garment inside-out to protect the outer surface during washing.
WASHING -
Choose a short cycle on your washing machine (max 40°C/100°F) to minimise stress on the fabric. Alternatively, hand wash the denim for a more delicate approach.
DRYING -
Avoid tumble drying, as this may cause shrinkage and affect the fabric's appearance. Opt for drip drying or laying the garment flat to preserve the quality of the denim.
By following these steps, you'll ensure the longevity and integrity of your WONGKRATON sanforised and one-washed denim, maintaining its unique character and appearance.
